Storm coach Craig Bellamy says he does not want his players to buy into Melbourne's bitter rivalry with Manly ahead of their preliminary final.
The Storm and Manly were involved in an infamous brawl 12 months ago, while Friday night will be the first finals meeting for the two teams since their grand final showdowns in 2007 and 2008.
Bellamy says he wants his Melbourne side to harness their intensity while staying disciplined.
"You'd hope that we have got some emotion about, it's a pretty important game," he said.
"At the end of the day we have got to channel the emotion into what we do out there and making sure we're doing what helps us perform well.
"There's obviously been some things in the past between the two clubs, but that is in the past and that won't matter come Friday night."
The Storm are confident of having a full roster to select from for the AAMI Park clash.
The team appeared full of beans at training on Monday morning after their week's break, which gave players such as forwards Jason Ryles, Todd Lowrie and Sika Manu the chance to recover from injuries.
"Hopefully I'll have a few headaches there," Bellamy said.
"They're coming along really good."
Bellamy said they will give the five players until Thursday to prove their fitness, with centre Will Chambers, who was absent from the main group on Monday, in the most doubt with a hamstring problem.
Winger Anthony Quinn looked to have overcome a calf strain.
Bellamy said they had tweaked their preparation from last year, when they were eliminated in the corresponding game by the Warriors.
"We haven't worked as hard as we did last year; we haven't had as many sessions," he said.
"We had a tough session on Thursday and other than that we only trained on Tuesday and the boys had the weekend off.
"They're pretty fresh at the moment."
Bellamy said Manly's defence was the key in their semi-final win over the Cowboys last Friday night.
"It was a tough, physical game which is what you'd expect from Manly.
"They did a good job with their defence and they scored enough points.
"Manly were typical Manly at this time of year; they've got a very battle-hardened team.
"They know what semi-finals are about and they know how to perform in big games."
