The former principal of a prestigious Melbourne private school says she was sacked because she tried to gather evidence to defend herself in a pay dispute.
Rosa Storelli was the principal of Methodist Ladies' College (MLC) for more than 15 years.
The MLC board says it terminated her contract after the parties were unable to resolve a dispute that arose when an audit revealed she was being significantly overpaid.
Ms Storelli says she was told her attempts to get information to defend herself amounted to a breach of confidence.
"I chose to speak to the chair of the former board of MLC, Ms Margaret Jackson, because the alleged overpayments were part of my contractual arrangements established under Margaret Jackson," she told ABC local radio.
"I didn't see that as a breach of confidence but I saw that as me going out to get evidence."
She described it as a "disastrous" situation.
Ms Storelli says one of the other complaints against her is that the college did not charge her enough rent for a school residence more than a decade ago.
"It's in the middle of a boarding house so don't think the word residence is anything too exotic," she said.
"They're now saying you should have been charged more because the market rate of that house is 'x'. You can't now charge me 'y' 15 years later.
"It's sorting out figures that they want to backpay that were never in my contract in the first place."
The chair of the school board, Louise Adler, said yesterday there was no suggestion of fraud.
She said there had been "endless" discussions to resolve the issue which had failed and as such the board had lost confidence in Ms Storelli.
