Services will be held in Victoria and South Australia today to honour AFL player John McCarthy, who died while on an end-of-season trip to Las Vegas last week.
A funeral will be held at the Victorian town of Sorrento for the 22-year-old Port Adelaide footballer, and public services will be held in Melbourne and Port Adelaide.
Club spokesman Andrew Rutter says the service at Alberton, near Port Adelaide, starts at 10:30am (AEST).
"He was a talented young footballer, and his loss has been felt far and wide," he said.
A big screen has been set up at Alberton to show vision of McCarthy's funeral at St Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Sorrento.
Players from his former club, Collingwood, will be among the mourners there.
The team's assistant coach, Rodney Eade, says they are still grappling with the loss.
"Everyone grieves differently and copes with it differently and how long that feeling of emotion lasts and that might surface at an unusual time and so I think what the club's done really well is encourage the players to express their feelings and have a talk to people," he said.
A coroner said last week that it appeared McCarthy had fallen nine metres to his death from a rooftop at the Flamingo casino and hotel property. Witnesses said he had been trying to jump down into a palm tree.
