A woman from Shepparton, in north-east Victoria, has been given a three-year suspended sentence over the death of her four-year-old son.
Julie Ann Commisso, 35, pleaded guilty to culpable driving, after a three car crash in Mooroopna in July 2010.
The County Court was told four of her children were with Commisso when her car hit another vehicle before spinning into the path of a third car.
Her four-year-old son died the next day and one of Commisso's legs had to be amputated.
A blood test after the crash showed she was under the influence of drugs.
In a court document, Judge David Parsons said a suspended sentence was appropriate as Commisso had suffered enough.
Her licence has been cancelled and she will not be allowed to drive for another two years.
