Police Minister Peter Ryan has unveiled a $300,000 mock railway station designed for training protective services officers (PSO).
The facility has been built at the police academy in Glen Waverley and will be used as part of the 12-week training course for PSOs.
Mr Ryan says it would not have been appropriate to allow the training to be done at existing railway stations.
"You need something which is fit for purpose. You need something which is specific to the needs of training," he said.
"Just as we have a bank, a service station, three private homes, a bar also in this "scenario" village, the very very important training undertaken by the PSOs needs to be done in a dedicated environment.
"That's why we've done this."
