Watchdog investigates council poll anomalies

Victoria's local government watchdog is investigating potential issues surrounding next month's Melbourne City Council elections.

The council says it has discovered some anomalies when compiling the voters' roll.

It is alleged around 400 voting applications are in dispute.

The complaint has been referred the issue to the Local Government Investigations and Compliance Inspectorate.

The chief inspector, David Wolf, has confirmed he is investigating the matter but will not reveal details of the concerns.
